FOLLOW UP: MUNICH PROSECUTOR CHARGES STADLER
Rupert Stadler and three others have been charged by the German Public Prosecutor’s office in Munich, with regards to the Dieselgate scandal. The charges are for false certification and criminal advertising practices. The three other, unidentified defendants have also been charged with developing defeats device containing engines. FOLLOW UP: ASTON MARTIN Q1 RESULTS

FOLLOW UP: AIR INDEX CLARIFICATION
Last week we questioned how legitimate the AIR Index report was about the amount of NOx Euro6 diesels were emitting in ‘real-world’ conditions. Friend of the show and sometime presenter, Alex Grant got in touch to give us some background info into AIR Index and the testing that Emission Analytics does on their behalf. NEW CAR REGISTRATION FIGURES JULY 2019
SMMT has reeled the New Car Registration figures for July 2019. There is another fall, this time 4.1%, the lowest level since July 2012. The year to date level is also down, 3.5% so far. To read more click the SMMT article here.
UK MANUFACTURING FALLS IN FIRST HALF OF 2019
UK manufacturing levels have dropped by 20.1% in the first half of 2019. Worldwide downturn and the Brexit-that-didn’t-happen shutdown are being given as the reason why. This coincides with a report on how much investment has dropped in the UK too. To read more click the Autocar article here.
MAN FILMING WHILST DRIVING IS NOT GUILTY
In what seems an open and shut case, a man who was caught filming the scene of an accident, with his phone, whilst driving past has been found not guilty of “using” his phone. This now sets a precedence and a dangerous one too, we would argue. Whether it is illegal or not, using, touching or looking at your phone (unless it is in sat nav mode) is a terribly stupid and dangerous thing to do. Please don’t. Joerg Hoffman, the boss of the London Electric Vehicle Company, has stated that they must be seen as a provider of green transportation and not just London cabs, if they are to survive as a company. CARWOW GET CASH INJECTION FROM DAIMLER
CarWow has raised more capital, a total of £25 million, from companies including Daimler AG, Balderton Capital, Accel and Vitruvian Partners. PORSCHE HELPING YOUR CLIMATE GUILT
Porsche is attempting to help those of us who are wracked with guilt over our carbon footprint, by setting up a carbon offset organisation called Porsche Impact. The idea is that one pays an amount of money that is judged suitable for the CO2 one emits. This money is used in projects that help to rectify the global carbon issue, such as build a solar farm, plant tress or similar. Many have questioned the validity of such efforts. FORMULA E: JEAN-PAUL DROIT PASSES AWAY
Jean-Paul Droit has died, following a long battle with illness. Droit was the founder of the DAMS racing team that went on to create the Renault e.dams Formula E racing team. Following another attritional race, Championship leader Tanak came out on top, putting recent disappointing results behind him. Lappi brought his Citroën in second with Latvala recovering from a puncture on Saturday, to round out the podium. Ogier was fifth with Neuville sixth, following Breen taking one for the team and turning up behind Neuville to give him the place after a penalty. Meeke was running third until he hit the same stone as Latvala, but this broke his suspension and ended any meaningful chance of points. To read more click The Checkered Flag article here.
