FOLLOW UP: GHOSN'S LAWYERS CRITICAL OF AUDIT REPORTING

Carlos Ghosn's lawyers have been critical of the release of preliminary findings of an audit, carried out by Renault. They state that there has been no contact with Mr Ghosn over these early findings and questions raised. The focus of this is the Renault-Nissan BV entity, which is Netherlands based. Co-Defendant Greg Kelly, has stated that Nissan CEO Hiroto Saikawa received a higher stock related bonus, in 2013. If this is true, then is an embarrassing revelation, when Nissan is pushing for an overhaul to governance. To read more click the Automotive News Europe article here.

FOLLOW UP: FCA RENAULT DEAL SUDDENLY OFF THE TABLE

FCA suddenly announced they were pulling out further talks of a merger with the Real Alliance. In their statement, FCA put the blame at the feet of French politicians. Although, there is some concern that Nissan would have walked from the Alliance, indicated by the two Nissan employees on the Renault Board abstaining from voting. Another Jalopnik article tries to unpick the reason behind the collapse in talks. With mistrust, anger and resentment on both sides of the Renault Nissan Mitsubishi Alliance, both main parties are being blamed for the impasse. To read more click the article here.

NEW CAR REGISTRATION FIGURES MAY 2019

Another month and another fall in registration figures, this time by 4.6%. Once again diesel fell 18.3% in May, for the 26th consecutive month. Overall, the market has shrunk 3.1% year-to-date. To read more click the SMMT article here.

FORD BEGINS CLOSURE CONSULTATION PERIOD

The Bridgend engine plant looks set to close, in 2020, as Ford begin the process of consolation with unions. 1700 people are employed on site, but there will be a larger number affected by this move. SUPPORT TO DRIVE SCHEME RUNS FOR SIXTH YEAR

West Dumbartonshire Council is running, for the sixth straight year, a scheme offering free driving lessons to young people in order to help them become more employable. To read more click the Council's own article here.

JLR AND BMW TO CO-DEVELOP ELECTRIFIED TECHNOLOGY

Jaguar Land Rover and BMW announced they will be working to gather to bring the next generation of electrified technology, for our EVs and hybrids. The costs of developing this technology is known to be expensive, therefore it makes perfect sense for companies to work together. To read more click the Autocar article here.

JAGUAR ENGINEERING CHIEF NORMAN DEWIS PASSES AWAY

The sad news that Norman Dewis, the famous Jaguar Engineering Chief passed away aged 98, was announced. He is, of course, famous for the dramatic drive of the E-Type to Geneva, which is the stuff of legend. He became a Jaguar ambassador, following retirement, helping those across the world understand why he felt the company was so special. He was awarded an OBE in 2015. NOISE SENSORS TO BE TRIALED

The Department of Transport has announced they will be trialing noise sensors, or microphones as we may know them, that if triggered would photograph a vehicle resulting in a warning letter being sent. Easier ways to report noisy vehicles will also be implemented. No figure for what "noisy" is has been decided. To read more click the EVO article here.

BRITAIN'S FIRST 150KW CHARGERS TO BE INSTALLED

BP Chargemaster will be installing the new ultra-fast charging points, called Ultracharge as part of the Polar charging network. The aim is for 100 units to be installed by the end of 2020, increasing to 400 by the end of 2021. The claim is that these new chargers will deliver 100 miles range in only 10 minutes. This makes them ideal for petrol forecourt deployment and use. To read more click the Motoring Research article here.
