UK CAR PRODUCTION DROPS ON SHUTDOWN

STOLEN VEHICLE CLAIMS UP 22 PERCENT IN 2019
The Members of the Association of British Insurers (ABI) have announced their first quarter payouts for stolen vehicle claims. There has been a rise of 22 percent on this time last year. Keyless car theft is being blamed. To read more click the Motoring Research article here.
PARKING SPACE DATA OFFERED TO APP DEVELOPERS
The Government has created standardised data on parking spaces, which it hopes local councils and companies that produce parking data will adopt and open up to the potential for apps to be created enabling drivers to find the most suitable space for their needs. MADRID COULD SCRAP LOW-EMISSION ZONE
Madrid could be the first city in Europe to scrap their low-emission zone. Following recent local elections the presumed mayor, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, is expected to reverse the implementation of the zone. However, the retention of the low-emission zone is anticipated to be fought in the city council and the courts. To read more click The Guardian article here.
HOLYROOD REJECTS 20MPH PROPOSAL
A proposal for reducing the speed limit on restricted roads to 20mph was rejected by the Rural Economy and Connectivity Committee at Holyrood. KIA RECALLS NIRO CARS
The Niro hybrid and plug-in hybrid models are being voluntarily recalled by Kia, globally. There is a potential overheating issue with an electrical relay. 5020 vehicles are thought to be effected by this recall, which were built between November 2016 and September 2017. FORMULA E: NIO START TESTING
NIO started their first development testing at Mallory Park, on Tuesday 4 June 2019, ahead of Season Six. Following this initial chassis testing the next step is for more in-depth testing in Spain, next month. To read more click the e-racing365 article here.
Ott Tanak won his second race on the bounce, after completing a challenging round in Portugal. Thierry Neuville was second, with Seb Ogier clinching third after Chris Meeke retired in the final stage.
