FOLLOW UP: GHOSN RETIREMENT DEAL

An outside governance panel has confirmed that Hiroto Saikawa signed off Carlos Ghosn's retirement package. This is part of a further investigation into how Nissan can improve their governance. To read more click the Automotive News Europe article here.

Associated with this, it is being reported that Saikawa will not retire as had been previously announced. He is expected to stay for another three years. To read more click The Truth About Cars article here.

VOLVO RECORD ATTEMPT

In an attempt to break the record for single-make cars in a parade in one place, owners of Volvos gathered at Bruntingthorpe. Over 1000 cars attended the event, which should mean that the record is broken, once Guiness World Records confirm in a few weeks. WLTP TEST LOOPHOLE CLOSED

The European Commission is tightening the WLTP test criteria following accusations that manufacturers are over reporting the CO2 emissions, due to running in modes that increased the amount coming out the tailpipe. To read more click the excellent Motoring Research article here.

U.S. HYUNDAI SANTA FE SHUTDOWN BY POLICE

The police in the US have taken advantage of Hyundai's optional extra, Blue Link, which includes a system called "Vehicle Safeguard" that can allow the police to gradually reduce engine power, helping to bring the vehicle to a controlled stop. TOYOTA ANNOUNCES SECOND SECURITY BREACH IN FIVE WEEKS

Toyota's main offices in Japan has had their IT systems breached by hackers. Up to 3.1 million customer details were in the servers affected. Toyota are at pains to stress that no financial details were exposed in the hack, but no more information was released. Toyota Vietnam and Toyota Thailand announced incidents on the same day. SPEEDING CONVICTION RATES ARE LOCATION DEPENDANT

The RAC Foundations has investigated the conviction rates of the police forces of the UK. They have found that there is a large difference depending on where you are. To find out more click the EVO Magazine link here.

GRIDSERVE TO BUILD 100 ELECTRIC FORECOURTS

Gridserve, an energy company, has confirmed it will build more than 100 'Electric Forecourts' across the UK. The £1 billion project is expected to start in 2019. To read more click the Motoring Research article here.

FORMULA E: PIQUET LEAVES JAGUAR

Nelson Piquet Jr has been replaced by Alex Lynn at Panasonic Jaguar Racing. This is on the back of ending the third consecutive race due to crashing. He also struggled last season after an encouraging start. To read more click the e-racing365 article here.

WRC CORSICA

In a heartbreaking final stage, Elfyn Evans suffered a puncture that moved him from first to third, handing victory to Thierry Neuville and Sebastian Ogier an unlikely second place. Ogier struggled all weekend, as he couldn't get comfortable with the car. Neuville fought hard to get within striking distance of Evans, but for the Welshman to out drive him. Tanak, who was leading the championship suffered a puncture on Saturday that dropped him back two minutes, to an eventual sixth place. To read more click the Autosport article here.

DESIGNERS MOOD BOARD: KABAN MOVED ON BY BMW

Jozef Kaban is being moved to Rolls Royce, from BMW, where he has been the head of the design studio since 2017. Kaban is replaced by Domagoj Dukec, an internal appointment.
