FOLLOW UP: VW SUED BY SEC
The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is suing Volkswagen and the former CEO Martin Winterkorn, for misleading investors, by not disclosing #Dieselgate. VW has said it will vigorously contest the lawsuit. To read more click the BBC News article here.
FORD CONFIRMS UK JOB LOSES
As part of cost-cutting in their European operations, Ford has announced that 5000 jobs will be going in Germany. The amount the UK will loose has not been confirmed yet. To read more click the Autocar article here.
JAGUAR LAND ROVER RECALL DUE TO EMISSIONS
JLR are recalling 44,389 vehicles in the UK, with as yet to be determined amount for Europe too. The cars were found to be emitting more CO2 in a lab setting than the NEDC tests stated. Who actually announced this is disputed, between the Vehicle Certification Agency and Jaguar Land Rover. There are also some questions about the side effects the fix will have, which JLR state will not change performance. To read more click here for the Automotive News Europe article.
STIGMATISING DIESEL COULD HAVE CONSEQUENCES
Alex Robbins, writing in the Telegraph, has discussed how the current anti-diesel narrative could impact on higher CO2 emissions and then end up causing as much, if not more pollution issues as people rush to buy petrol cars. PORSCHE 911 GT2 RS GOING BACK INTO PRODUCTION
Porsche has announced that there will be a limited re-run of production for the 911 GT2 RS after a cargo ship carrying a batch for South America sank off the coast of Mexico. To read more click the Jalopnik article here.
