FOLLOW UP: UBER REACHES SETTLEMENT CLAIM OVER ACCIDENT
In short order, Uber has reached a settlement claim with the family of the lady their vehicle hit in Arizona. What little information that's known is here.
UK DIESEL CAR TAX HIKE IMPLEMENTED ON 1st APRIL
Revised diesel car tax rates, particularly for company car drivers, came into force on 1st April despite no vehicles meeting all the standards and most not having been tested for them. More details here, with clarification of the WLTP/NEDC mess by Alex Grant here.
US Safety Agency Unhappy With TESLA Jumping The Gun
The US NTSA is irked that Tesla has released a blog post on its version of events leading up to a recent, fatal Model X crash before they've finished filing their official report. Tesla is clear to point out that the driver had his hands off the wheel at the time of the crash but not saying why the concrete divider was not detected by the system. More here.
Diesel NOx Emissions could be near-eliminated with new Technology
Researchers at Loughborough University say their new ACCT system, running on a liquid additive similar to AdBlue, could use ammonia to break down nitrogen oxides within two years with "the right support. More here.
Whiplash Claim Cap Could Reduce Car Insurance
The proposed Civil Liability Bill could introduce a cap on whiplash claims of £425 to deter fraudulent claims. The current average whiplash claim is £1850. This would save the insurance industry up to £1billion per annum and each UK driver £35. More in the What Car? article here.
