FOLLOW UP: VW DENIES REPORTS CHAIRMAN KNEW ABOUT #DIESELGATE EARLIER THAN STATED

Hans Dieter Poetsch knew about Volkswagen’s emission cheating three months before it was revealed, it is alleged in Bild am Sonntag. Volkswagen strongly denies that, the then head of finance, knew about the issues in June 2015. This information has come to light following the investigations into market manipulation. FOLLOW UP: GHOSN, KELLY AND NISSAN CHARGED

The expected re-arrest of Ghosn and Kelly has taken place, with both as well as Nissan itself, being charged with misstating Ghosn’s compensation, over several years. This prolongs their stay in prison. To read more click the Automotive News article here.

News also reveals that Chief Executive, of Nissan, Hiroto Saikawa signed documents that relates to payments for Ghosn. However, prosecutors are satisfied that he did not understand the nature of the details and do not believe he is involved in this matter. To read more click on the Reuters article here.

FOLLOW UP: BLOODHOUND SSC PROJECT IS CANCELLED

The sad news that the Bloodhound project has ended, was announced last week. No investor could be found to help complete the development, testing and record breaking runs. Equipment will now be returned to third party contributors and assets will be sold. To read more click the BBC News article here.

NEW CAR REGISTRATION FIGURES FOR NOVEMBER 2018

SMMT released the New Car Registration figures for November 2018, with a 3% drop, year on year. The after effects of the WLTP introduction, supply issues, consumer confidence or lack thereof, and Brexit are all reasons given. To read more click on the SMMT article here.

MANCHESTER CLASSIC CAR SHOW ENDS

The Footman James Classic Car Show, based at EventCity, by the Trafford Centre, Manchester, has been cancelled indefinitely. In their statement they say “significant compulsory third party cost increases” are the reason. They are very proud they have covered all their costs previously, but could not do so next year. CARGURUS BUYS PISTONHEADS

CarGurus the US based online car marketplace has agreed to buy PistonHeads from Haymarket Group. CarGurus launched in the UK in 2015 and are, according to their statement, the fastest growing online marketplace in the UK. To read more click the CarGurus’s article here.

VW PREPRODUCTION CARS SOLD TO PUBLIC

Volkswagen discovered, in 2016, that it had been selling preproduction and display vehicles since 2006. They informed Germany’s Federal Motor Transport Authority in September 2019. Cars were still sold until 2018. No one knows what will happen to the cars as they have not followed the correct documentation procedures for such vehicles. Volkswagen is recalling 6,700 cars, but there could be as many as 17,000 affected. To read more click the Jalopnik article here.
