FOLLOW UP - VW ENGINEER SENTENCED
The first Volkswagen engineer has been sentenced. James Lang pleaded guilty, helped the prosecution and has been handed a 40-month sentence. To read the Autocar article click here.
FOLLOW UP - AUDI BOARD RESHUFFLE
Four of the seven senior members of the board have been replaced. This has been put down to the scandal. We’ve already heard about other parts of the VW Group blame Audi for the problems they are in. To read the Autocar article click here.
FOLLOW UP - PLATOONING LORRIES IN THE UK
The Government has now stated that ‘self-driving’ trucks will be tested on UK roads in 2018. Alan does explain a few facts about all of this, that seems to have been missed by more mainstream reporting. To read more click the Motoring Research article here.
NEW CAR REGISTRATIONS AUGUST 2017
SMMT has released the New Car Registration figures for August 2017. A typically quiet month, due to the new plate in September and holiday period. However, is this more than expected? To read the SMMT information click here.
WORLDWIDE HARMONISED LIGHT VEHICLE TEST PROCEDURE
As of September 1, the new snappily titled fuel efficiency and emission test, Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) came into force. This is meant to address the deficiencies of the previous testing regime. Hopefully, drivers will see closer results to what they achieve from the longer and more intricate test. BRAKE CALLS FOR RURAL ROAD PRACTICE
The safety organisation, Brake, has called for rural road driving to be part of driving lessons. Following five weeks of driving in the countryside Andrew, surprisingly, finds himself agreeing with Brake on this matter. To read the BBC News article click here.
CHARGING ROUND BRITAIN - ROUND UP
Following the six days driving around Britain, the chaps have had a chance to collect their thoughts on what they’ve learned from the experience.Also we hear about Alan's nightmare journey home on Sunday.
