FOLLOW UP - NORWAY TO PENALISE COMBUSTION ENGINES FROM 2025
The Norwegian government is confident that penalising buyers of petrol and diesel engined cars will encourage people to buy low and zero emission vehicles. They are confident that they could see 100% low and zero emission sales by 2025. To read more click here.
FOLLOW UP - ZERO TOLERANCE LAWS IN EFFECT 1 MARCH 2017
A reminder that the laws, with heavier penalties, came into force on 1 March 2017. This includes penalties for using a phone when driving. To read more click here.
INSURANCE PREMIUMS TO SOAR
Due to a change in the way money is allocated to accident victims car insurance is expected to rise, on average, by £75 a year. This seems like another tax on the motorist, coming so soon after the extra tax being levied on insurance anyway. To read more click here.
GOOGLE SUES UBER
Waymo, the autonomous driving business arm of Google, has filed papers against Uber and their ex-employee who went there, Anthony Levandowski. The claim is that Levandowski stole proprietary information about the LiDAR system they had developed. This is at very early stages, but seems it will run the distance. Autocar and SMMT have launched, for the second year, their quest to compile a list of the best British Women in the car industry. The chaps fully endorse this, as you’ll remember, they discussed the list last year. To read more click here.
ROLLS-ROYCE REVEAL NEW MODEL
Rolls-Royce has revealed the smallest model in their current range. The SHR is a bespoke vehicle, which has been designed and crafted for children at the St Richard’s Hospital Pediatric Day Surgery Unit, in Chichester, West Sussex. The idea is for children to be able to drive themselves to surgery, obeying the installed traffic signals, and hopefully reduce stress for them. The chaps applaud Rolls-Royce for this and think it's a brilliant idea. To read more click here.
