After Alan alienating yet another section of the population the chaps move into follow up, with, yes you guessed it, #Dieselgate!
FOLLOW UP - 3.0L AGREEMENT
Volkswagen has reached an agreement which means they must fix and compensate owners, which will run to approximately $1.2 billion in costs. Also, it has been revealed that they will face additional fines, in the region of $4.04 billion if they cannot reach agreement on a fix for certain aged engines. So much for $19 billion provision set aside by VW. The chaps think that would now be in the region of $26 billion. To read more click here.
FOLLOW UP - VW SUED IN GERMANY AGAIN
After discussing the case being brought by an individual, in Germany, due to the way their legal system is structured, this week there is another seeking compensation. However, this time it is a company, Deutsche See, a fish distributor. They have leased 500 cars, due to the promise of how environmentally friendly they were. To read more click here.
FOLLOW UP - ITALY TESTS FCA MODELS
We knew certain FCA models were going to be retested, due to suspicions that defeat devices were fitted. However, in order to do this, the specific testing elements that would show if any were fitted need to be undertaken. This did not happen. We know this because their own report stated they did not do this! To read more click here.
FOLLOW UP - ZAFIRA FIRES
The chaps start by congratulating Andrew Brady for “Headline of the Day” with his piece on GM’s appearance in front of the House of Commons Transport Committee. To read more click here. The representatives from GM didn’t have a comfortable time. To read more click here.
FOLLOW UP - FORD’S BRIDGEND PLANT
The Unite union has, in a courageous move, given Ford an “ultimatum” of two weeks, to produce a five-year plan for their Bridgend engine plant. Following Brexit Ford announced that they will make decisions based on what’s best for the business. As they have historically proved, Ford will make difficult decisions. The chaps think this is a foolish move by the unions. To read more click here.
NEW CAR REGISTRATIONS JANUARY 2017
New car registrations rose, again, in January 2017. If the alternatively fuelled vehicle rise continues for the rest of the year, Alan could hit his prediction! To read more click here.
ENGINES STOLEN FROM JLR PLANT
A stolen lorry has been used to steal approximately £3 million worth of engines from a Jaguar Land Rover plant in Solihull. Twice. The chaps discuss how this seems very suspicious due to the levels of security in place for gaining access to the site. To read more click here.
CAR VANDALISED IN MIDDLE ENGLAND
A bright yellow Corsa has been vandalised in the Cotswolds, apparently due to it spoiling visitor’s pictures of seemingly idilic, picture postcard scenes. Both Alan and Andrew get quite cross about this. To read more click here.

INSURANCE COSTS MORE
Insurance premiums have risen again, which is being attributed to two factors. Firstly, that the Government has slapped another increase in tax on insurance. Secondly, cars are increasingly more complex, therefore fixing them is increasingly more costly. To read more click here.
