FOLLOW UP: PARIS MAY BAN ICE EARLY

In what appears to be a race to ban cars from cities, Paris is close to announcing that it will bring the banning of non-electric cars from 2030. To read more click the Futurism article here.

JOBS GO AT VAUXHALL

400 jobs, through voluntary redundancy, will go at Vauxhall’s Ellesmere Port plant, on the Astra Estate line. PSA has stated it has nothing to do with Brexit and only due to falling sales. Investigating, Nick Gibbs pointed out that this doesn’t seem to be borne out by the sales figures. To read more click the Bloomberg article here.

400,000 MERCEDES RECALLED

Mercedes-Benz UK has recalled up to 400,000 UK cars, due to a steering column problem. To see which models are affected, click the CAR magazine link here.

OXFORD VIES FOR ‘HATING CARS THE MOST’ CROWN

Oxford Council has announced plans to ban petrol and diesel cars from 2020. Initially, it will be on a few streets, but this will expand over time. To read more, click the Autocar article here.

SHELL BUYS CHARGING COMPANY

Shell has bought NewMotion, an electric vehicle charging company. On the back of this, they announced that they would start rolling out installations of EV charging points at their petrol stations. To read more click the NewMotion press release here.

CARD-FREE CHARGING INTRODUCED IN THE NETHERLANDS

If your car can use the CSS charging system then you can charge your car, in the Netherlands, without needing a separate card or app thanks to FastNed. To read more click the FastNed post here.
