FOLLOW UP - FRANCE REFUTES ‘GOING EASY’ CLAIM IN RENAULT REPORT
Members of the investigation into Renault, following the raids in January, have claimed that key findings were missing from the final report. The EU has perked up at this and wants to see all the information. The French government has refuted claims it has ‘gone easy’ on Renault. To read more click here.

Volkswagen has agreed to compensate 652 dealers, within 18 months, following their actions in #Dieselgate. The two sides still have to thrash out exactly how much that is yet. To read more click here.
FOLLOW UP - MORE DISCOVERY DISCOVERY PICS
That's not a typo, but what else are we supposed to say now that Discovery is the old Land Rover brand? You will remember Alan spotted a nearly undisguised new Discovery, well now there are more pictures showing how it will look. FORD PATENTS SECURITY LOGIN FOR CARS
Ford has patented a system that allows you to ‘unlock’ your car without the need for a key fob. What, we hear you say? By pressing a series of buttons and pedals within the car you will prove you are the owner and the car will start. For once, Andrew actually is in favour of this type of development, due to it using existing systems in the car. To read more click here but WARNING the video may autoplay.
M20 BRIDGE COLLAPSE
Alan talks about the bridge collapse on the M20, which happened during the last Bank Holiday weekend. Having found an interesting article that explains the design of the bridge and how that helped the Highways Agency reopen the road so quickly. Yes, we do mean ‘interesting”. AMAZON STARTS CAR RESEARCH PORTAL
After Alan’s digression to discuss motorway junctions that don’t actually exist, Andrew talks about Amazon’s recent move into a car research portal. Alan wonders if this is connected to DriveTribe which is launching soon. Andrew talks about how Amazon’s personal assistant, Alexis, is being used by manufacturers too. AUTONOMOUS CAR DRIVES AT FORMULA E TEST DAYS
During the recent Formula E test days, the first public track testing of DevBot took place. This prompted expected knee-jerk reaction about how this isn’t racing etc etc. However, Andrew puts forward the case that this is essential for development of autonomous cars, both in terms of technology and the public’s perceptions.
