New Car Sales
It's another month of year-to-year monthly growth in the UK new car market* with sales up 5.3% on last year across petrol, diesel and hybrid/alternatively-powered vehicles.
*Note that the statement in the linked article regarding Citroen sales being down 18% on March 2015 is incorrect. Since May 2015 Citroen and DS sales have been reported separately, as stated on the SMMT-supplied spreadsheet of figures. Citroen & DS sales for March 2015 were 16,770 Citroen & DS sales for March 2016 were 17,131.
Tesla Model 3 Update
Tesla have released more information about the late-2017 Model 3 having received more than 300,000 deposits so far.
- Standard models will be 2WD with a single motor powering the rear axle
- AWD will be optional with a second motor powering the front axle, as witht he Model S and Model X
- There is still no news on BHP and torque figures at this stage.

Tesla Model S Facelift
Tesla have started selling and producing a facelifted Model S. The revised car had a much smaller "grille", the ventillation system first featured on the Model X and an uprated onboard charger. Pre "Green Car Grant" the UK list price for a Model S 70D is £58,300.
Tesla Model X Recall
2,600 US-market Model X are being recalled to fit a failure in 3rd row seat latches that could cause the seats to fold forward in a crash. The failure was noticed in crash testing and not because of an incident. Tesla say that all the offending vehicles are expected to be fixed within 5 weeks.
Truck Platoons Cross Europe
The European Truck Platooning Challenge completed this week with all three platoons travelling uneventfully across Europe and converging as planned in Rotterdam. The furthest-travelled Scanias came from Sweden via Denmark and Germany, over 2,000km. We spoke about tests of truck platoons expected to take place in the UK recently.
BMW to be Featured Marque at 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed
As part of its Centenary celebrations, BMW is to be the Featured Marque of the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the centrepiece of which will be a sculpture featuring a 328 Mille Miglia Roadster, a Brabham-BMW BT52 and the Le Mans-winning BMW V12 LMR.
This year the Goodwood Festival of Speed runs from 23rd to 26th June.
Isuzu Celebrates its Centenary
Isuzu UK is celebrating Isuzu's centenary in a rather lower-key way with a limited edition "Centurion" D-MAX. Only 100 will be made.
